This course introduces students to the world of product design and development. After performing industry analysis and identifying product market strategies, students will work in groups to design a product in a sector of their choice. Students explore and implement core concepts in product design, including Porter's five forces, competitive strategy, and customer needs. Assignments include reading and discussing different company case studies and identifying the successes and failures of these companies. Students will apply lessons learned to their final group product design project.

Session Two
*The course will meet for two hours daily (Monday–Friday) for a live online class during this window of time. The third hour is used for online office hours. Students will be admitted to and attend just one course section and time. The exact course time and office hour schedule will be set closer to the start of the program. In addition to the live meeting times, students complete out-of-class learning assignments such as assigned readings, group work, pre-recorded online lectures, and more.
