This course is an introduction to the world of neuroengineering. Students will examine the nervous system through an engineering lens to better understand repairing, regenerating, and enhancing the neurological system. Using readings, clinical studies, and research, students will study the formation of neural connections and the neural network through chemical and electrical engineering models. Working in groups, students apply this information to develop and present ideas that aid the healing and regenerating processes of the nervous system. As a final project, students will propose a study that can possibly enhance research in neuroengineering.

Live Meeting Time*

04:00 PM - 07:00 PM (PDT)

Session One

08:00 AM - 11:00 AM (PDT)

Session Two

*The course will meet for two hours daily (Monday–Friday) for a live online class during this window of time. The third hour is used for online office hours. Students will be admitted to and attend just one course section and time. The exact course time and office hour schedule will be set closer to the start of the program.

Asynchronous Homework Time

2-3 HOURS PER DAY

The approximate amount of time participants should plan to spend on assignments and projects outside of live class time.
