How can we understand the brain’s control of movements, thoughts, and emotions? In this two-week course, we’ll dive into the fascinating world of neuroscience to explore how the brain functions, what happens when it malfunctions, and how scientists are working to understand its complexity. Students who are curious about the human brain, considering a career in medicine, psychology, or neurology, or are simply eager to learn how the mind works will benefit from taking this course. Throughout the course, students will engage in hands-on experiments, analyze real case studies, and work on a group project creating a model or presentation of a specific brain function or disorder. The course culminates in a final presentation where students will showcase their group's findings on how the brain connects to behavior. By the end of the class, students will have a solid foundation in how the brain and nervous system operate and how these functions apply to fields like medicine, mental health, and artificial intelligence. This course will give participants a taste of what it’s like to study neuroscience in college, and introduce them to potential career paths in the growing field of neurobiology.

Live Meeting Time*

08:00 AM - 11:00 AM (PDT)

Session One and Two

*The course will meet for two hours daily (Monday–Friday) for a live online class during this window of time. The third hour is used for online office hours.
