Mechanical engineering is one of the most diverse areas of engineering, and is often referred to as the “mother of all engineering disciplines.” Spaceflight, materials, renewable energy, medical, transportation, robotics, buildings, construction, and much more all depend on mechanical engineers. Through interactive group activities and a final team based project, students will explore the core principles of mechanical engineering, the common tools and processes used, and how to apply these to analyze and solve mechanical engineering challenges. Students considering majoring in engineering in college will benefit from taking this course.
