Are you interested in learning more about your future career in medicine? Through this course, students will explore the intersection between empathetic patient care, cutting edge medical research, and high-impact community health. Each day will involve a themed case study in a different healthcare specialty (cardiology, orthopedics, pediatrics, internal medicine, and more), followed by an academic research activity or bioethics discussion. Students will also be given the opportunity to engage with current professionals who have pursued different paths to medicine, from physicians, pharmacists, and occupational therapists, to social workers and health policymakers. As a final project, students will research, evaluate, and generate a presentation on a novel medical therapeutic that interests them. This course will be a broad introduction to careers in healthcare and high-yield medical topics best suited for those interested in health sciences.
